Where are we going?
Across the Border to Sunny Italy: Journey to San Remo and Dolceacqua.
Your stay on the French Riviera can be enhanced by a visit to nearby Italy – the distance from Nice to the border crossing is only 35km! Crossing the border between France and Italy, participants of this trip will have the opportunity to experience two different cultures in one day. During the full-day trip, we will visit the beloved city of many Poles, San Remo, also known as the city of flowers, where the famous Italian Song Festival has been held for years. San Remo delights with beautiful gardens and an elegant promenade. Its highlight is the picturesque cycling race Milan – San Remo, and the old town pleases the eye with elegant architecture integrated into medieval, centuries-old buildings. The Italian way of life in San Remo is reflected in the cafes, where you can enjoy aromatic coffee and delicious Italian snacks. The famous Italian tiramisu tastes nowhere as good as here! We will spend the afternoon in the town of Dolceacqua, which once played an incredibly important role in transporting sea salt obtained in France, much needed by medieval people – it was used not only for food preservation but also for cleaning leather goods, among other things. Dolceacqua, located a bit further from the coast, is a charming town with a famous single-arched bridge, which is a popular motif in the paintings of many artists. The picturesque, narrow streets winding up towards the castle overlooking the settlement are an incredible testament to the history of our civilization. A stroll through the narrow streets of Dolceacqua allows you to feel the authentic atmosphere of the Italian province and immerse yourself in its rich history. Two different faces of sunny Italy.
San Remo is also known for its annual Italian Song Festival, which attracts both national and international artists.
Dolceacqua is famous for the production of excellent local wine Rossese di Dolceacqua, which is worth tasting during your stay in this charming town.
